Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
