Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
